Install

install.sh is a Terminal script, not an app. Double-clicking it opens it as a
text file - that is macOS doing what it is told, not a broken download. Use
either method below.

Method 1: run install.sh from Terminal. This also installs the factory sounds.

1. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
2. Type this, with the space at the end, but do not press Return yet:

     bash

3. Drag install.sh from this package onto the Terminal window. It fills in the
   path for you.
4. Press Return.

Close your DAW before installing or updating. The script replaces the plug-in
bundles completely, so old files cannot remain inside them.

The script copies:

- VST3 to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/TRUMSYNT-KIT.vst3
- AU to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/TRUMSYNT-KIT.component
- Factory voice presets to ~/Documents/TRUMSYNT-KIT/Presets
- Factory kits to ~/Documents/TRUMSYNT-KIT/Kits

The presets and kits are only ever added. A file that is already there is never
replaced, even if it differs from the packaged one, because a file with the
same name may be your own edit. Nothing is deleted.

Method 2: copy the files yourself. No Terminal.

1. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G).
2. Paste this and press Return:

     ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

3. Drag TRUMSYNT-KIT.vst3 from this package into that folder.
4. Repeat with this folder, and drag TRUMSYNT-KIT.component into it:

     ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

5. Open Go > Go to Folder again, paste ~/Documents and press Return. Create a
folder named TRUMSYNT-KIT there if it does not exist. For a first install,
copy the contents of this package's Library folder into it. For an update,
copy only missing preset and kit files and keep all existing files, including
Preset Categories.txt. The Terminal method handles this automatically.
6. Start your DAW.

If a folder does not exist, create it. The Library folder in your home folder is
hidden in Finder, which is why Go to Folder is the way in.

If macOS blocks something in this package

The plug-ins are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so
macOS should not question them. If it does anyway - a partial download and a
re-zipped package are the usual reasons:

- Right-click (or Control-click) the file, choose Open, then choose Open again
in the dialog. The dialog only offers this from the right-click menu, never
  from a double-click.
- Or open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, and
click Open Anyway next to the message about the blocked file.

If that happens, download the package again before trusting it, and check the
checksum file that ships with the download.

License File

TRUMSYNT-KIT uses the same offline license file as TRUMSYNT-16. One license
opens both plug-ins. There is no online activation and no in-plugin
authorization button.

Place the license file here:

  ~/Library/Application Support/Liljeholmen DSP/TRUMSYNT/TRUMSYNT.license

To install it manually:

1. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G).
2. Paste this and press Return:

     ~/Library/Application Support/Liljeholmen DSP

3. Open the TRUMSYNT folder there. If it does not exist, create it.
4. Drag TRUMSYNT.license into that folder.
5. Restart your DAW or reopen the plug-in window.

The file name has to be exactly TRUMSYNT.license. If you download it twice,
your browser saves the second copy as "TRUMSYNT (1).license" and the plug-in
will not find it. Rename it or delete the first one.

A TRUMSYNT-16.license that is already installed keeps working where it is:

  ~/Library/Application Support/Liljeholmen DSP/TRUMSYNT-16/TRUMSYNT-16.license

Trial

Without a valid license file, TRUMSYNT-KIT runs as a 14-day trial with every
feature. During the trial the sound is muted for 5 seconds every minute, from
the first day, on every output and in exported audio alike; a sign in the
plug-in window counts each pause down. The trial starts when the plug-in window
is opened for the first time, not during DAW scan. After 14 days the plug-in
still opens but makes no sound until a license file is installed. Your
projects, kits and presets remain intact.

A license file removes the pauses and the time limit for good, in both
TRUMSYNT-KIT and TRUMSYNT-16. TRUMSYNT-KIT's trial is separate from
TRUMSYNT-16's.

Your Sounds

Voice presets and kits you save are ordinary files in
~/Documents/TRUMSYNT-KIT. Your DAW project also stores the full state of the
machine, so a saved project does not depend on those files.
