Install

There is no installer for the plug-in. You copy one folder, then add the
sounds. Close your DAW first.

1. Extract this zip.
2. Copy the whole TRUMSYNT-KIT.vst3 folder into

     C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\

That is the folder every VST3 host scans by default. Windows asks for
administrator permission, because that folder is shared by all accounts.

TRUMSYNT-KIT.vst3 is a folder, not a file, even though Windows may draw it
with a plug-in icon. Copy the whole thing.
3. Double-click Install Presets.cmd. It copies the factory voice presets and
kits into the Documents folder of the account you are signed in with:

     Documents\TRUMSYNT-KIT\Presets
     Documents\TRUMSYNT-KIT\Kits

Run it as yourself, not with Run as administrator: the sounds belong in
your own Documents folder. If Windows asks whether to run a file from the
   internet, choose Run.
4. Start your DAW and let it rescan its plug-ins.

The presets and kits are only ever added. A file that is already there is never
replaced, even if it differs from the packaged one, because a file with the
same name may be your own edit. Your Preset Categories.txt is kept. Nothing is
deleted.

Adding the sounds without the script

Open Documents in File Explorer and create a folder named TRUMSYNT-KIT there if
it does not exist. Copy the contents of this package's Library folder into it:
the Presets and Kits folders and Preset Categories.txt. If Windows says that
files with the same names already exist, choose "Skip these files". That keeps
your own edits and your categories.

Updating from an older version

Close your DAW. Delete the old TRUMSYNT-KIT.vst3 folder from

  C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\

and then copy the new one there. Do not copy the new folder over the old one:
Windows merges the two folders and can leave old files inside. Then run
Install Presets.cmd again. It adds new sounds and leaves yours alone.

Your presets, kits, license and trial are stored outside the plug-in
folder and are not touched when you replace it.

To uninstall, delete the TRUMSYNT-KIT.vst3 folder. Your sounds in
Documents\TRUMSYNT-KIT stay until you delete them yourself.

This Build Is Not Signed

There is no code signing certificate behind this release, so Windows has no
publisher name to show you and may warn you about the files. Nothing has gone
wrong if it does.

What you can check instead is the SHA-256 sum published beside the download.
Open PowerShell in the folder you downloaded to and run

  Get-FileHash <the downloaded .zip> -Algorithm SHA256

then compare it with the .sha256.txt file from the download page. If the two
match, this is byte for byte the file that was built here.

License File

TRUMSYNT-KIT uses the same offline license file as TRUMSYNT-16. One license
opens both plug-ins. There is no online activation and no in-plugin
authorization button.

Place the license file here:

  %APPDATA%\Liljeholmen DSP\TRUMSYNT\TRUMSYNT.license

Paste

  %APPDATA%\Liljeholmen DSP

into the File Explorer address bar, then open the TRUMSYNT folder there, or
create it if it does not exist. When the trial has ended, the plug-in's message
also has a button that opens it. Then restart your DAW or reopen the plug-in
window.

The file name has to be exactly TRUMSYNT.license. If you download it twice,
your browser saves the second copy as "TRUMSYNT (1).license" and the plug-in
will not find it. Rename it or delete the first one.

A TRUMSYNT-16.license that is already installed keeps working where it is:

  %APPDATA%\Liljeholmen DSP\TRUMSYNT-16\TRUMSYNT-16.license

Trial

Without a valid license file, TRUMSYNT-KIT runs as a 14-day trial with every
feature. During the trial the sound is muted for 5 seconds every minute, from
the first day, on every output and in exported audio alike; a sign in the
plug-in window counts each pause down. The trial starts when the plug-in window
is opened for the first time, not during DAW scan. After 14 days the plug-in
still opens but makes no sound until a license file is installed. Your
projects, kits and presets remain intact.

A license file removes the pauses and the time limit for good, in both
TRUMSYNT-KIT and TRUMSYNT-16. TRUMSYNT-KIT's trial is separate from
TRUMSYNT-16's.

Your Sounds

Voice presets and kits you save are ordinary files in Documents\TRUMSYNT-KIT.
Your DAW project also stores the full state of the machine, so a saved project
does not depend on those files.
