Install

install.sh is a Terminal script, not an app. Double-clicking it opens it as a
text file - that is macOS doing what it is told, not a broken download. Use
either method below.

Method 1: copy the two bundles yourself. No Terminal.

1. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G).
2. Paste this and press Return:

     ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

3. Drag TRUMSYNT-16.vst3 from this package into that folder.
4. Repeat with this folder, and drag TRUMSYNT-16.component into it:

     ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

5. Start your DAW. Factory presets install themselves the first time the
plug-in runs, so there is nothing else to copy.

If a folder does not exist, create it. The Library folder is hidden in Finder,
which is why Go to Folder is the way in.

Method 2: run install.sh from Terminal.

1. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
2. Type this, with the space at the end, but do not press Return yet:

     bash

3. Drag install.sh from this package onto the Terminal window. It fills in the
   path for you.
4. Press Return.

Running it through "bash" like this avoids having to make the file executable.

The script copies:

- VST3 to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/TRUMSYNT-16.vst3
- AU to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/TRUMSYNT-16.component
- Factory presets to
  ~/Library/Application Support/Liljeholmen DSP/TRUMSYNT-16/Presets/Factory

Updating from an earlier version

Install 1.4 the same way as a first install, with either method above. It
replaces the earlier TRUMSYNT-16.vst3 and TRUMSYNT-16.component, so no older
copy is left for your DAW to load. Close your DAW first, and rescan your
plug-ins afterwards.

Your license file, your trial state and your saved presets are not touched.
Factory presets are refreshed by the plug-in itself the first time 1.4 runs.

If you tried an earlier version and your 7-day trial has run out or is running,
1.4 gives you one fresh 14-day trial, starting the first time you open the
1.4 plug-in window. It is given once and is not restarted again.

If macOS blocks something in this package

The plug-ins are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so
macOS should not question them. If it does anyway - a partial download and a
re-zipped package are the usual reasons:

- Right-click (or Control-click) the file, choose Open, then choose Open again
in the dialog. The dialog only offers this from the right-click menu, never
  from a double-click.
- Or open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, and
click Open Anyway next to the message about the blocked file.

If that happens, download the package again before trusting it, and check the
checksum file that ships with the download.

License File

TRUMSYNT-16 uses an offline license file. There is no online activation and no
in-plugin authorization button.

Place a purchased license file here:

  ~/Library/Application Support/Liljeholmen DSP/TRUMSYNT/TRUMSYNT.license

To install it manually:

1. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G).
2. Paste this and press Return:

     ~/Library/Application Support/Liljeholmen DSP

3. Open the TRUMSYNT folder there. If it does not exist, create it.
4. Drag TRUMSYNT.license into that folder.
5. Restart your DAW or reopen the plug-in window.

A TRUMSYNT-16.license that is already installed keeps working where it is:

  ~/Library/Application Support/Liljeholmen DSP/TRUMSYNT-16/TRUMSYNT-16.license

The same license file also unlocks TRUMSYNT-KIT. One license opens both.

Trial

Without a valid license file, TRUMSYNT-16 runs as a 14-day trial with every
feature. During the trial the sound is muted for 5 seconds every minute, from
the first day, in playback and in exported audio alike; a sign in the plug-in
window counts each pause down. The trial starts when the plug-in window is
opened for the first time, not during DAW scan. After 14 days the plug-in still
opens but makes no sound until a license file is installed. Your projects and
presets remain intact.

A license file removes the pauses and the time limit for good, in both
TRUMSYNT-16 and TRUMSYNT-KIT. Each instrument has its own trial.
